Yay for Xmassing time again! Well its been a long, long, long time since I last posted, but I’ve been having some issues at home and don’t really have regular access to the internet now. But anyway it is time for Xmass again, and I’ve already got some really great gifts. I got a nice tshirt that reads “I void warranties” on the front, got a really cool geek shoulder holster for my pda and cell phone, got a nice new cell phone, and even got a really nice leather shoulder holster for my pistol.

I am out in Utah right now visiting and while I am here I got to do a bit of networking work. Now for right now it is not pretty but it works much better then what was there and is only a temp setup untill we can do structured networking.

As I said not pretty, but it works well.

Wow its been a long while since I’ve posted here. I’ve been travling a lot recently, ABQ, Chicago, Salt Lake. I’ve taken some time and resources to work on my room/office/studio. I moved the amp and the equilizer onto my desk, I also got a new case and mothboard for my main desktop. I’ve taken a few pics of my little space, its not much but its mine and it does what I need it to.

Well its been fun this last week in ABQ, got to go shooting, see my freinds, eat some really really good food. I picked up a few things like my new pistol and a case and holster for it. I finaly while I was here decided to switch my laptop back to linux ..and I am so much happyer with it on nix now, I’m using ubuntu 8.04. Well I guess thats about all I have to say I’ll go ahead and post some of the pics I took while I was here.

Oh and I added another server Vetis into the rack …or well next to it since the current rack is full ..I really need to build a new one. But yeah, this server is being hosted for my friend out in Chicago. Even though he is without internet for the most part right now. Well when he gets net again this server will be up and waiting for him.

Also VoIP update, I HAVE A STABLE SYSTEM!!!! YAY! …sorry ..is just something that makes me very happy …it has taken me so long to put together a stable VoIP system. I am using switchvox free edition for the PBX and my desk ATA is a Linksys PAP2 V2.0 I am also using DLink VTA-VR in the server room and at the wolfy’s house ..which I will be setting up when I get there. Anyway ..yeah thats all for now.
Man it has been a long since I last posted, but I’ve been really busy having to do this community service for school and working on the computers and so on. I recently got to have my mate come out to OKC and visit. He came for my graduation and it made me very happy that he was here. Well for the last two weeks I’ve been working at a thrift store as my community service and I’ve found a number of cool things. But yeah anyway here are some pics of my room since I’ve moved it around recently and a pic of the updated server rack and of some clouds that I tought were cool …if you don’t like it …deal with it.

Well I finally got around to working on my server rack setup a bit, adding new power bars and moving things around. Also finally got my DLINK ATAs working so I now have one out in the server room along with the phone and the comm switch which will let me share that line with a fax and modem and answering machine later on.
The New setup incling my lopsided phone and the new ATA …I had to take the pic at an angle because there was ti much junk on the floor.
Well went on a thrifting trip a few days ago, found some great stuff. First off I found a really nice camera and a bunch of lenses for $15. After that I found a nice set of 5.8ghz phones for $10 and a really really nice HP Photosmart 2575 network enabled all in one printer which is now hooked up and running wonderfully, I really can’t find any problems with it which is odd since most I get from thrift stores have some issue with them.

I had an amazing find at the thrift store the other day. I was looking around and happened on what I thought might be oh a rack mount power strip which I could certainly use. So I reached down and picked it up and turned it around and my eyes went huge it was a 24 port unmanaged switch which I quickly checked to see if it worked and it did. Well I bascily picked up a switch that I checked and it goes for $875 as a refurb and I got it for $3!! So its in the rack now right above the network patch panel. I also finaly have the asterisk server up and running and have my numbers registered in it and ringing to my in house extensions.

Well the other day I was looking around for a 16 port switch well failing to find one in stock at the stores I did stumble across a PAP2 V2.0 from linksys which was locked to Vonage for $50 with a $30 rebate. So I bought it got it home and unlocked it, it worked fine with my asterisk box for a while then I started having some trouble, well after a while I figured out that it wasnt the PAP2 that was the problem but the server itself so I decided to go ahead and update it to Trix box which is what I’m doing right now. I also changed my computer setup around last night.

Well I’ve been wanting to watch my videos that are on my computer network on the other tv’s in my house, but I don’t have the hardware needed to build a Linux MCE system with thin clients like I would like to. Soooo instead of buying the hardware which I don’t have the money for so I’m building basically my own TV channel at home. This is very very easy simply using some coax a few signal splitters and a RF modulator. Basically my desktop happens to have a TV out the yellow AV not an S-video though with the right gear you can use S-video for this. So I want to send my computer TV out to all of my TVs in the house so you connect it all up and wire it up…I am not going into a how to right now.
This is the TV in my living room, its got some problems cause of the crap cable I am using but its not to bad. And yes I was watching Diggnation when I took the pic.

I was out at a Flea market today and as we were leaving I was still looking around and saw this little belkin wireless G router. So I looked at the guy asked how much it was he said 10 bucks I said sweet and gave him the cash. Get it home and start working on it, this thing is so much better then my last AP, the router as it normaly is has a option to use it as just an AP which is so much easyer. And it even supports up to WPA2 which is really nice.

I have spent the last two days or so working on my server rack and the rest of my network. What prompted this was while I was at a thrift store I ran across a 24 port Cat 5e patch pannel for $3 so I bought it and brought it home, it happened to fit perfectly on the rack I am using for my servers so I wired everything up over the last two days and I finaly have it all done. I even finaly got the VPN on the router back up and running.
The rack as it is now ..I really like how the overhaul turned out, you can see the little 5 port switch on the top it will be replaced in about 5-6 days when I get my new 16 port 10/100 switch.

I’ve spent most of my day working on some gear for my radios. I like to carry a GMRS/FRS radio along with my cell sometimes and I wanted a way to use both of them with the same headset and keep it from being to noticeable. So I built this which interfaces my radio and my phone together and outputs to my earbuds, and I’m going to add another plug later for an MP3 player.

Well thats everything, what you see sticking out are the earbuds, the mic, and the button to key the radio. This is just a prototype and I’ll be building new versions when I have the parts and time.
Well its been a long time since I last posted. But oh well, I’ve spent most of tonight working on WEP cracking. Now this isnt illegal since I’m doing this in a controlled environment using my own AP and so on. Its taking a really really long time since I don’t have all that much traffic on this AP. But oh well its not like I don’t have time. Anyway here is a pic of my setup that I am using to do the WEP cracking.
The laptops I’m using. The one on the left is running backtrack 2 the open programs are airodump, aircrack, and airreplay the one the right is running XP and is being used to provide network activity over the wireless so I can crack it.

And as I finish writing this post I have broken the WEP key!.
Well just about an hour or so ago I was messing with my GPS a Garmin Forerunner 201. It wasnt connecting with my computer so I thought what the hell and opened the cradle and well theres your problem, two of the contacts on the cable connector were broken. So I sat down got out my gear and started to work on fixing it, and about an hour or 2 later its done and working again…even if its ugly as hell now. Oh well I don’t care what it looks like.

Finaly after so much work I got the Counter Strike Source and 1.6 server up last night. Merihim is now happily running away in the rack with the rest of the servers. Though I still need to get him online. I’ll be working on that later.

Damn I am tired …feel like I’m about to just fall down. Anyway I’ve spent the last few days really getting back into gaming and working on a Counter Strike Source server. I started out trying to do it on a nix machine but that was being a pain in the ass ..then the machine itself decided to stop working. So for the time being until I can get some new hardware for it I’m just hosting it on a XP system, Kobal to be exact. It did take me a while of download hunting and tutorials to figure it out but at least I have it working on the LAN now. Though with steam anyone else that wants to play has to have their own copy …which is a big big pain in the ass. But oh well most of my friends have their own copy. But anyway I started out trying to do it through the command line in XP ….that didn’t work out too well for me so I decided to just say screw it for now and run it with the Steam GUI. It works at least is what I’m saying ..now I just have to figure out how to get it online. Well thats a job for this weekend I guess. I also was finally able to make an expansion board for the new AP which is nice but still needs to be cut down a little bit. Also recorded a show last saterday SuddenOutburstS02E04, will post some pics when I can.
